ISpionage Review

iSpionage is a newer player in the spy tool market. They are much more PPC oriented than organic SEO oriented. They offer 3 tool sets: Keyword and Domain Research Keyword Monitor PPC Campaign Builder Keyword and Domain Research They index the top ten results in Google, Yahoo, and Bing (although I only saw G and Y). They give you breakdowns of common spy tool elements such as: Competitors and Overlapping Keywords Ad Copy Keyword Specific Ads CPC Average Search Volume Average Rank And so on.. The one really neat thing they offer is overlapping keywords between Yahoo and Google for a particular domain. I'm not aware of another spy tool that does that.

Why The SEO Industry Is Special

I have been part of the SEO industry for a pretty long time now. The thing is, I really don't offer SEO services, but yet, I still write about the industry, cover the news and go to the industry gatherings. The question I am asked about this is why? Why bother if you don't sell SEO? I always come back to the industry and how special it is. There is something about the people in the industry. The giving nature of the industry

Ask Sponsored Listings Stops Sending Referrer Data

Ask Sponsored Listings recently launched a new platform which is managed by what they called Pureleads. Ask advertisers have been receiving emails about the change in the past week or so. One savvy advertiser, Jerry Nordstrom, posted a thread at Search Engine Watch Forums , digging into the changes. The most significant change is that Ask will stop sending referrer data from clicks on their ads. That means, you really won't know where your clicks are coming from, when advertising on the Ask network. The Pureleads FAQ explains: Pureleads is our new proprietary technology that blends advanced click purification methods and automated campaign traffic management. The Pureleads system protects your campaign from unpredictable delivery spikes, automated click traffic and suspect traffic sources. The result is a powerful technology that improves campaign ROI, overall click to conversion metrics and reduces the time required to manage your campaign.

Google Is Really Leaving China, Well 99.999% Chance

In mid-January Google said they are leaving China after being part of a hack by the Chinese government. Since then, Google has been trying to work out details with the Chinese government to stay. Part of Google's requirements to stay was to stop or limit the censorship required there, but it appears that Google and China cannot see eye to eye. The Financial Times reported : Google has drawn up detailed plans for the closure of its Chinese search engine and is now "99.9 per cent" certain to go ahead as talks over censorship with the Chinese authorities have reached an apparent impasse, according to a person familiar with the company’s thinking. Pulling out of China has huge financial concerns for Google. Google's executives have made it clear that they still hope to stay in the country, whatever the fate of Google.cn. "It's very important to know we are not pulling out of China," Eric Schmidt, Google’s chief executive, told the Financial Times at the time. "We have a good business in China

Pi Day Logo from Google, DogPile Does Day Light Savings Time

Today is one of my favorite holidays, Pi Day. Yes, today is March (3), 14th and Pi is 3.1415926. This year, unlike last , Google has a logo. Here is the special Google Doodle for Pi Day: Bing, Yahoo, and the other search engines don't seem to have a logo for the day. We took the time to change our complete theme for the day, here is a picture: I should note, that although Google did not have a logo last year, they did mention it in a blog post and they did tweet it . DogPile also has a special message on their web site, but they reserved it for the clock change. Here is their spring forward logo: Forum discussion at Search Engine Roundtable Forums & Google Web Search Help
